Chucalissa in the Summertime

by Kiran Riar

The return of warmer weather is always an exciting time for us at the museum. While we miss the Graduate Assistants, school visits, and class projects of the school year, they are quickly replaced with talks of summer camps, field trips, and outdoor adventure.  As our visitors will know, Chucalissa has expanded its educational reach in recent years to encompass our natural setting and better engage the scenic beauty of T.O. Fuller State Park. This makes summer the ideal time to take advantage of our surroundings – our nature trail, gardens, arboretum, and medicinal plant sanctuary are all in full bloom! The summer season also gives us the chance to offer increased programming opportunities to other audiences. We’re big fans of family days, scout troops, and summer camps…so much so that we’re offering our very own art camp, Art for Voice, in June and July.

What are all of the staff’s favorite things about Chucalissa in the summer? Well I’m glad you asked…
